Suzdal is another historic town which is known for historical churches, brilliant architecture and an open-air museum of wooden architecture.
Vladimir dates back to the 11th century and is a part of the Golden Ring loop. The city is famous for white stone palaces and cathedrals with carved facades. This type of decoration is rare in Russian architecture. When in Vladimir, don’t miss the iconic Golden Gates.
Kostroma is another town in the Ring that dates back to the 13th century and is located at the confluence of Volga, Kostroma Rivers. When in Kostroma, visit the beautiful stone architecture of the Epiphany Cathedral, take a look at the classic frescoes at the Trinity Cathedral and make a trip to the Ipatievsky Monastery.
